Tom Comes to the Wedding Rescue.

How could SUITGATE happen to Steph and Tony?

A wedding with no suits for the groom and his seven groomsmen! The couple had been well organized and completely on top of planning all the elements that were needed to make their wedding day a truly special day for both of them. Thankfully it ended that way because Tom’s Place came to the rescue!

With a wedding date of September 30, 2017, Tony and his groomsmen had all been sized and fitted by early June and custom suits were ordered. The suits would be delivered by early August; just to be sure there were no last minute glitches. Men’s wedding parties are rarely so well organized!

Then August arrived and Tony got the bad news, “We’re way too busy but we will have them in early September.” Gulp! But by early September, the excuses just started to mount: The suits were held up in customs…the suits will be here next week, don’t worry. Two weeks away from the wedding, the couple was now in full panic mode. The carefully planned event was literally coming apart at the seams. Did the men’s suits even exist?

Tony began desperately shopping for new suits. Living in Brampton, he called local retailers and visited the area’s large malls. Some laughed at him, others offered suits but nothing like the suits they wanted, most just said it could not be done. Then one of the groomsmen, Kris, an avid Newstalk 1010 listener who heard Tom every morning on the radio, suggested they try Tom’s Place.

Naturally Steph stole the show, dressed by Eva’s Bridal Couture, but we happen to think Tony, dressed by Tom’s Place, looked pretty fine as well!

The new plan

Tony first stepped into Tom’s Place on Sunday, September 24, a mere six days before the wedding. Tony had all the groomsmen’s measurements and knew exactly what he wanted. Tom’s Place has literally thousands of suits in stock so Tom’s sales people immediately went to work to find all the suits Tony needed in the colours and styles he wanted, with the sizing dictated by the measurements.

On Monday, Tony gave his original supplier one last chance to deliver the garments. No dice. SUITGATE was reality. On Monday afternoon Tony officially put Plan B into effect at Tom’s Place. Tuesday and Wednesday everybody came down to Tom’s Pace to be fitted for their new suits.

The best fit

Steph recalls the scramble: “Tom’s made it possible! After everything we had been through they assured us they would take care of us and they did more than that. Even though we came to them last minute, they were so patient and spent hours with my husband and groomsmen to find the perfect suits. This sounds cliché, but really when you’re at Tom’s you don’t feel like a customer, you feel like family.”

Alterations were needed on every single suit–and some required hours of work! Fortunately Tom’s Place has up to eight tailors on site every day so that problem was overcome. Everything was pressed, steamed and ready to go on Friday. Tom’s Place also supplied shirts and matching pocket squares to go with the ties Tony had picked out. Tony was decked out in a Strellson suit with an Emmanuel Berg shirt while the rest of the group had Paul Betenly suits and Strellson shirts.

A stitch in time

Tony and Steph summed up their experience at Tom’s Place. “We found a company that cared, a company that stopped everything and found a solution to our problem. We highly recommend Tom’s Place, we are only sorry we did not start there in the first place!” Meanwhile SUITGATE will live on as cornerstone of their wedding story–a story with a happy ending!
